I had trouble
I sat down with my nephews to read a book. The book they choose was I had trouble getting to Solla Sollew by Dr. Suess. Basically the story goes like this, a kid runs to all sorts of trouble. Trouble that harms him, people who use him, some who leave him, and when he finally reaches this trouble less place He can’t get in because trouble is sitting at the door. He is invited to come on another journey to a another place that supposedly doesn’t have trouble at all. Instead of going to search for the next place without trouble at all. This kid decides to go breast mode. He says I am heading home but now I’m going to be trouble for my trouble.
No one is immune to trouble.
I think sometimes we focus so much on trying to achieve a life that has little conflict or avoid situations that could possibly include trouble or pain. When we honestly forget the strength that lives within us to handle the trouble in life that we face.
On the journey to avoiding trouble, this kid faced a lot of it and when finally arriving at the future place he was hoping for with no trouble, trouble was waiting there for him. Trouble is a part of the journey, trouble will happen this I can guarantee to you.
We have the power within us to combat with trouble and survive, not just survive but thrive live with peace, and a heart full of joy. All because of Jesus.
He has overcome the world
He is our strength when we are weak
With God all things are possible
Through facing the various troubles of life, we learn to depend on Jesus who is our strength. We learn that although trouble comes, hurts, causes tears and we may lose hope in the middle. We can know that in the end trouble comes and goes, through it all the Lord is with us. Like the bat the kid takes with him on his journey home, we carry the Word of God, and his promise not to forsake us. So regardless how tough the things we are facing, we’re hanging with the One who always wins.
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling. Selah”
Psalms 46:1-3 ESV
“God doesn’t promise to guard us from trouble. He promises to guide us through it.“ Steven Furtick
